Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) fell on Twitter after she appeared to forget a detail in a tweet about President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address on Tuesday.
“Hey Joe, you got it covered!” he tweeted, citing a line from Biden’s speech where he said: “In the middle of the COVID crisis, when schools are closed and we’re killing everything, let’s see how far the fight against the pandemic will go.”
A note appears below the tweet, indicating that readers have “added context they think people want to know.”
It includes links to two articles: One about K-12 school closings in the spring of 2020, when Donald Trump becomes president, and a second note that Trump said the decision on school closings will be up to the governors of each state.
Critics don’t retain “extra context” in retweets and replies:
