Larry The Cable Guy Defends Joke About GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene

Larry the Cable Guy on Friday had to explain a joke about right-wing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) after receiving backlash on Twitter.

The comedian, real name Daniel Lawrence Whitney, tweeted four photos of Greene heckling Joe Biden during the president’s State of the Union address this week and wrote:

“This photo reminds me of every comedian x girlfriend who came to the show and sat in the back 6 days after the breakup.”

The standup was criticized by some commentators for what they perceived as an attack on Greene. In response to several messages, he clarified that he did not vote for Biden and “not a political joke.” He also praised Greene”moxy“but said he needs some speech class.”

Later, he tweeted his full response:

“This is not a political joke! can’t be trusted. Lighten up some of you sheesh,” he wrote. “It’s about the comedian that x made fun of in the club. He has all the gestures.

“Some of you don’t follow me or you would think twice about my rude comments,” he said.

Before the 2016 election, the comedian warned that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton “will be the end of the country.” But he also expressed concern about GOP rival Donald Trump, admitting he was put off by “a few things” he said. He began often attacked critical media coverage of the twice-impeached former president.
