Land Rover Defender 90’s 75th anniversary in Lego



Although the latest Land Rover Defender has been out since 2019, the iconic Solihull original has been immortalized once again, this time in Lego.

Available in South Africa from the first of next month, the mini-Defender 2 336 pieces commemorates the 75th anniversary of the model’s establishment in 1948, and as carmag.co.za show, it can be customized in many ways just like the real-life Defender 90 it’s based on.

Different types of adventure

The iconic Lego Land Rover Defender 90 is accompanied by many accessories to equip your Land Rover Defender 90 with off-road needs.

“The Defender is synonymous with adventure and this new LEGO set is the perfect way to capture the spirit of an unrivaled and unstoppable automotive icon, while also showing the vehicle’s playful side,” said Paul Barritt, Director of Land Rover Classic.

Accessories include a roof rack, raised air, a front bumper with a working winch, side rails, and a toolbox that help enhance the appeal of the Lego model, the 32cm long Lego Land Rover Defender 90 has working suspension and steering. Lego models try their best to display the real world details found in real street muses.

“Turning the Classic Defender into bricks is not an easy challenge. The Defender can take you anywhere, so during the design process we wanted to create the set with a sense of adventure. We can’t wait to see the reaction of the fans,” said Kurt Kristiansen, LEGO Design Master.

To echo the adventurous nature of the Defender 90, a real-world Classic Defender has been placed in the Scottish Highlands and is the world’s most difficult Lego store. The Lego Icons Land Rover Defender 90 will be priced at R3 999.
