
Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Lagos State, yesterday, held a ‘Solidarity Walk’ in support of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, on February 25 and March 11 respectively. election.
The retirees, who started their walk at the NUP Secretariat, Alausa, and ended at the Nigerian Employers Consultative Association (NECA) Headquarters in Alausa, expressed their appreciation for the vision Tinubu brought to Lagos, and wanted it to be replicated at the national level.
On the occasion, the Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, thanked the pensioners who have sacrificed their time to support Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu.
“I am very thankful that you left your house early in the morning and came out here together to support our party, APC, for the Lagos presidential and gubernatorial elections. I am very thankful because this is very special, especially when our elders come out to support the candidates us.I know there is a special blessing associated with that support.
“I can be proud and confident that this is the first time that retirees will come to show their support for the governor of the state. This tells about what the governor has done in the last three years,” he said.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Folashade Jaji, thanked the pensioners for their determination to ensure that Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu are elected in the coming elections.
“Dear senior citizens, we are very happy to have you here. You could have easily stopped, but you took yourself here. We thank God for his grace in your life because you have worked and then retired and are still active it’s not your doing; it’s God’s grace. I pray that you will continue to feel that grace,” he said.
