Like father, like son?
At least, yes. It seems that way.
Two months after Todd Chrisley began his prison sentence – after being convicted of various charges of various types of financial fraud – the son of the reality star could also go to jail.
On Tuesday, the 32-year-old was arrested and booked for aggravated assault.
A rep for the Rutherford County Jail in Tennessee told TMZ late yesterday that Kyle was released after posting $3,000 bail.
According to a Smyrna Police press release, when Kyle got into a physical altercation with a supervisor at Penske Truck Rental, the company he worked for.
During the incident, the USA Network personality allegedly said “the blade is fixed.”
As previously mentioned, the arrests came after Todd Chrisley was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison (and his wife, Julie, 7 years) on charges of tax evasion, bank fraud and conspiracy to defraud the IRS.
Kyle, whose mother is Todd’s first wife, Teresa Terry, has long struggled with mental health and substance abuse issues.
In 2019, former Chrisley Knows Best cast member was hospitalized after attempting to commit suicide.
He later opened up about his headspace and emotional state on an episode of his father’s podcast, “Chrisley Confessions.”
“I was taking drugs and I had bad side effects, and I tried to kill myself,” he admitted at the time, explaining that his 10-year-old daughter, Chloe – who he shares with ex-wife Angela Johnson – living with his father and stepmother at the time because of “my addiction and mental illness.”
Chrisley is due back in court on March 20, per public citation records.
Kyle’s sister Savannah has been keeping Chloe – as well as her teenage brother, Grayson – since their parents were sentenced to prison.
Todd and Julie have custody of the children until now, an arrangement that has created tension between father and son.
“I haven’t been the best dad to Chloe,” Kylie wrote on Facebook in 2019. “I’ve had a problem with drugs, I’ve been acting silly and through it all, she’s stood by me.”
He added about four years ago:
“Nine months ago, I apologized to my father.
“He said ‘I love you always, and you are forgiven’ and just like that, I was welcomed back into his life with open arms.
“I will be grateful for his love [and] grace.’”
After Todd and Julie’s sentencing this season, Kyle shares a Bible verse about withholding judgment.
“Judge not, or you shall be judged.
“For with the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you,” read the post, which quotes Matthew 7:1-3.
“Who is it that you look at the dust in your brother’s eye, and ignore the beam in your own eye?”
