Kwara United FC on Tuesday unveiled Kabiru Dogo as the club’s Technical Advisor. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the club announced Dogo in a brief ceremony, held at its secretariat in Ilorin.
Speaking at the event, Bashir Badawiy, the club’s General Manager, said he did the unveiling with the standard of the team as a well-known brand.
He noted that the club finalized the appointment of Mr. Dogo a few weeks ago.
“This opening is like a ritual for us. Coach Kabiru Dogo is one of our own, and we have to pay him respect,” he said.
The GM expressed his confidence in the new gaffer to deliver for the club.
Mr. Badawiy said he gave the coach a three-year contract and the management will try to support him to succeed.
He thanked the state government under the leadership of Abdurrahman AbdulRazaq for their support to the club and promised that the management will not give up in their efforts to bring the team to a good place.
In his remarks, Mr. Dogo said it is the dream of every coach and player to work for Kwara United, because of their status as one of the big outfits in the country.
He also thanked the management for giving him the opportunity to serve his country.
“I want to assure everyone that by the grace of God during this time, Kwara United will go ahead and achieve more,” he said.
The former coach of Wikki Tourists stated that his immediate aim is to ensure the stability of the club. He added that the team is full of experienced and young players that will be used to get results.
“What I found on the field in the team is good. We just have to change the mentality, the psyche and change the attitude towards work, and now we have responded well,” he said.
While praising his predecessors, the tactician said he will use their achievements to take the club to the highest level.
Meanwhile, Kwara United currently occupy the eighth position on the log of 10 teams in the abbreviated Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Group A with nine points from nine matches after the first stanza of the league.
The club, who currently host their matches at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, will be hoping to do well when the NPFL resumes after the election break.
