Kotoko dropped the points again as Smartex ended a poor run
Asante Kotoko can end their matchday 12 four points in first place after dropping three points in a row.
Tamale City and Kotoko drew 1-1 on Wednesday. Coach Seydou Zerbo’s men thought they had secured three points when they took the lead in the 84th minute thanks to an own goal, but they lost two minutes later.
Tamale City got a point that could help them turn their season around and avoid relegation from the top flight.
The latest draw follows a 1-1 draw at home against Great Olympics and a 0-0 draw at Aduana Stars on January 1. Kotoko have squandered three chances to top the league, which is regrettable.
Also on Wednesday, Medeama supporters had reason to rejoice after the team responded well to defeat last Sunday at Dreams FC with a comfortable win over Nsoatreman. Medeama won 2-0 thanks to goals from Kwesi Donsu and new striker Jonathan Sowah.
Smartex FC won their third game of the season against Bechem United, thanks to an 83rd minute goal from Seidu Abubakar.
Berekum Chelsea snapped a three-game winless streak with a narrow win over Karela United, while Legon Cities shared the spoils with Dreams FC.
Matchday 12 continues on Thursday with Hearts of Oak and Aduana Stars in action.
