Some new first-year students reporting to schools in western Kenya have shaved their heads to comply with a strict dress code.
Accompanied by parents and guardians, new students line up at various tables to go through the sign-in process, where they find their long hair directed to a group of barbers.
“Welcome Kereri Girls, for girls who are here for the admission process and you have long hair, it is the policy of the school to ask for a shave,” the announcer said, local media reported.
“On my left, there’s a barber please continue asking for help. Thank you,” said the announcer.
The local NTV station showed a video of the student getting his hair cut.
Some people who commented on the story criticized the Kisii County boarding school, saying they should be focusing on more pressing issues.
