MANILA, Philippines—Bantamweight prospects Kenneth LLover and Benny Canete headlined the Blow by Blow slam-bang over the weekend in Mandaluyong City.

Llover (8-0, 5KOs) defeated Canete (7-1, 6KOs) on points to win the Philippine Boxing Federation title before a packed crowd at the Barangay Mauway Executive Sports Complex.

The bout caps a 14-fight card that marks Blow-by-Blow’s second event since Manny Pacquiao revived the show last November.

Blow-by-Blow was originally launched in the 1990s when a young Pacquiao fought several times.

“It’s great to see fighters from different cages competing. It’s a sign of healthy competition,” said Pacquiao, who made sure to catch the fight from his home in General Santos City.

Pacquiao plans to hold events once a month, hoping to find the next Filipino world champion.

“Boxing is always close to my heart. I know the feeling when you’re just trying to make your way up,” Pacquiao, the only eight-division world champion in boxing, said.

“It brings back memories of when I was still struggling in Mandaluyong when I was just starting out.”
