Kelly Dodd took to her Instagram page on Tuesday to reveal her husband Rick Leventhal was in the emergency room after being involved in a “terrible accident.”
After the former The Real Housewives of Orange County cast members traveled to Aspen with friends, they shared a video after Rick’s accident and asked for prayers as Rick admitted he was “lucky to be alive” and responded to a follower who said he was “not sick” after sharing the video. from the hospital bed.
“No smash tomorrow [YouTube’s The Rick and Kelly Show]. My husband was in a terrible car accident. He is in the ER.. please pray for him [Rick Leventhal]Kelly wrote in the caption of a Jan. 10 post on Instagram, which featured a photo of Rick’s totaled Mercedes-Benz and a video of the scene.
After Kelly’s post, Rick responded in the comments.
“Honestly I’m lucky to be alive,” he told his wife. “The scariest moment of my life. It makes it all the more worthwhile.
Several Bravolebrities also weighed in with comments, including Kelly’s ex RHOC star, Vicki Gunvalsonwhich shows not one, but two messages.
“Anyway! Thank God he is okay. Praying for a speedy recovery,” she wrote at first.

Meanwhile, on Rick’s own page, he shared a video of himself lying in a hospital bed, stating that he suffered four broken ribs and a broken bone in his leg, and thanked those who reached out.
“I am very lucky to be alive and grateful for the hope and care I received. [Four] broken ribs, broken right leg, proud wound. Until then,” he said.
And, in the video, he shared with his online audience that he hydroplaned on I-10 outside of Palm Desert.
“Just hit something that felt like ice. It was water or something. The road was slippery. I lost control [and] slammed into the wall, hard. Start spinning around the traffic lane and slam into the back of the tractor trailer.
He also said his window was broken and two airbags deployed before the truck driver helped him out.
After sharing what happened with his fans and followers, Rick was met with some criticism from fans who stated that the injury was not that serious, as he was back on social media.
“He’s on Instagram so it doesn’t hurt too much,” he said Margaret Josephs.
And after the fans defended him, he was listening that people can use the phone when sick, Rick clapped back.
“Did you say that to anyone who commented? Am I not letting people know my situation? Because I’m not ‘too sick?’” he asked.
Real Housewives of Orange County season 17 is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime in the coming months.
