Ketia Market On Fire
Fire has destroyed part of the new Kejetia Market in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, DGN Online can report.
The fierce fire was reported on Wednesday, March 15, at about 4:30 p.m., spreading to other markets.
However, the cause of the fire has not been determined.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service are currently battling to put out the fire.
Unfortunately, the full response of the Ghana Fire Service was hampered by the inability to get a full access route to the market as some of the premises had been taken over by trading warehouses.
According to fire officials, three fire tenders have been dispatched to the spot to control the situation and douse the fire.
This comes almost a week after some parts of the market were flooded following heavy rains.
