MANILA, Philippines—Rhenz Abando slowly pulled away as Anyang KGC won 95-83 against Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in the Korea Basketball League at Anyang Gymnasium on Saturday.
In 16 minutes of play, Abando finished with six points, a block and a steal. Omari Spellman’s double-double more than made up for Abando’s deficit with 27 points and 14 rebounds for Anyang to improve its record to 30-11.
Abando just returned to action after being sidelined since participating in the All-Star festivities.
RJ Abarrientos, on the other hand, finished with 10 points built on two triples along with a team-high five assists and two rebounds for Mobis Phoebus, who dropped to 24-17.
SJ Belangel and Daegu KOGAS Pegasus, meanwhile, bowed to Seoul SK Knights, 89-85, at Jamsil Students’ Gymnasium.
Belangel played 28 minutes for Daegua and produced 10 markers, four dimes, three boards and two steals but KOGAS Pegasus fell to a 13-26 card.
SK Knights, meanwhile, jumped to the third seed against Ulsan with a score of 23-16.
On Friday, Justin Gutang made a big impact in Changwon LG Sakers’ 96-78 win over Seoul Samsung Thunders at Jamsil Arena.
Gutang played 21 minutes, registering 10 markers, three assists, two steals and a board to help Changwon improve 26-14.
In the other game, Dave Ildefonso did not sign in Suwon KT Sonicboom’s 83-67 loss to Goyang Carrot Jumpers.
Suwon fell to a record of 17-23, just barely holding the seventh seed behind Wonju DB Promy 16-23-managed.
