Kaya-Iloilo got help from Stallion-Laguna on Sunday to overtake leader Dynamic Herb Cebu in the Philippine Football League (PFL).
A 4-0 win over Mendiola FC 1991 in Imus, Cavite, allowed Kaya to atone for last weekend’s loss to Cebu in front of fans in Iloilo City.
Cebu was held to a 1-1 draw by host Stallion-Laguna in BiƱan, Laguna, in the other game as Kaya earned some points in the title race.
Kaya moved to 33 points, eight ahead of the Gentle Giants, who have two games in hand.
The Azkals Development Team (ADT) defeated Maharlika-Manila, 2-1, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
ADT remains in third place with 18 points, two ahead of Stallion through two weeks of resuming league play.
Mendiola still has six points while Maharlika has only won once in 13 games for one point.
Daizo Horikoshi added to the lead in the goal tally with 10, scoring the opener in the first half for Kaya. Jhan-Jhan Melliza, Arnel Amita and Dylan Nobiraki also found the mark after the break. INQ
