A clean break? Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz‘s divorce was front and center as the couple filmed season 10 of Vanderpump Rules.
During the premiere, Katie and Tom say goodbye for the first time on camera.
“He explained everything and made common sense. I probably couldn’t give specifics because I was too tired and didn’t listen,” said the Minnesota native in his confessional. “But also, I don’t want to ask anymore because one of the reasons he broke up with me was because I didn’t listen. Long story short, I just don’t know how to make him happy.”
However, Katie noted that her ex-husband’s inability to make her a “priority” led to her decision.
Before filming began on season 10, Tom and Katie confirmed that they were calling it quits after more than ten years together. “Wow this sucks,” wrote the entrepreneur via Instagram in March 2022. “I’m not a victim. I wouldn’t write a very sad song. I respect Katie’s decision completely and we had a healthy and productive conversation about it. It’s sadder that she decided to stay with me when not happy.
He continued: “How can I capture 12-year-old love in the caption of a king’s can of Instagram. I’m not ready to use the ‘D’ word yet [because] it is very painful. We have had some of the most blissful, romantic, fun times humanly possible over the course of our relationship. I say heaven on earth level of joy. He taught me a lot about love and being a better partner.
Us Weekly later it was confirmed that the amicable separation changed when Tom was comfortable with his costar Rachel Lewis bottom he split from James Kennedy. In August 2022, an exclusive source revealed that Tom and Raquel “made out” while attending Scheana Shay and Brock Davies‘get married.
The California native revealed the split between her and the “You’re Gonna Love Me” podcast host, revealing. us in October 2022, “I can’t speak for him, but I just keep my distance and let him deal with his feelings.”
Raquel, who announced the Vanderpump Rules she called off her engagement to James in January 2022, praising her new relationship with Tom. “Now, we’re good friends. I feel like that [our breakups] It made us friends and we could support each other,” he added. “I didn’t expect the friendship to blossom, but I’m glad it did.”
The founder of TomTom also weighed in on the feud between Katie and Raquel.
“I stay out of it. I care a lot about Raquel and my girl Katie. I love them. We spend more than a quarter of my life together, so I respect and love them. But they can be very reactive and I haven’t had much time to process it,” said Tom us a month later.
