Katie Maloney appeared on Christian Doute‘s podcast last week, where he was an update on his and Ariana Madixsandwich shop, Something About Her.
Before admitting in a separate interview he wanted to be “away” from Vanderpump Rules co-star Rachel Lewiswho is hooked on his ex-husband, Tom Schwartzjust months after the split, Katie discussed the “extra work” she and Ariana were doing at their new restaurant before accusing Schwartz and his business partner, Tom Sandovaldo things “backward” when it comes to Schwartz & Sandy’s.
“You think that finding a location is the most difficult part, so you think, but there are many factors that go into it, it’s not as easy as choosing the paint or the table and chairs, it’s like a lot of extra work, legal. stuff that goes in, licenses and rights and stuff,” Katie said on the Feb. 8 episode of Sex, Love, and What Mattersthrough Heavy.
While Katie and Ariana have found a location, reportedly near SUR in West Hollywood, they still have work to do before they can open the doors. So before getting to the “fun part” of starting a business, Katie says she’s focused on “working with a consultant to get the business plan down in detail. [and] budget.”
Katie later said she disagreed with the process Schwartz and Sandoval went through to expose Schwartz and Sandy.
“There is no shadow for men, but they work backwards, I don’t think it helps them in the long term, it takes a lot of money and a lot of time and a lot – not necessarily to learn from it, but it is reinforced that we do it right,” he said.
Looking forward to opening the store, Katie said she and Ariana want to have a timeless and “romantic” look that has been inspired by the interior seen in the movie Nancy Meyers’.
“It’s not trendy, it doesn’t feel like it’s a trendy place, it feels like it’s been around forever,” he said.
During another interview with Us Weekly, Katie was asked where she stood with Raquel months after she was hooked up with Schwartz in Mexico.
“There is nowhere. I stood far away,” said Katie. “That’s where I stood.”
According to Katie, she was “trying” to make it work with Raquel. However, he continued, “Some things are unexpected. And our friendship may be one of them.
As for her relationship with Schwartz, Katie says she’s doing her best to keep it amicable.
“I have a history with Tom and we have a dog, so I’m more than happy to try to fix it and get it over with. [everything],” he noted. “We’re trying to figure out where the sweet spot is in our friendship so we can stay in each other’s lives, stay friends, but not cause distractions and stuff like that.”
