Katie Maloney clapped back as fans called out her reaction to the “traumatic” trailer of the middle of the season Vanderpump Rules. In the trailer, the pain and anger of his friend Ariana Madix it was revealed that he found a girlfriend among them Tom Sandoval‘s reported relationship with a castmate Rachel Lewis.
In one scene, Ariana screams in pain, and she later tells Sandoval that she wants to “die.” This reported relationship shocked fans because Ariana was friends with Raquel in her time of need. In the middle of the drama, Katie is going through a breakup with her ex-husband Tom Schwartz.
In a BravoTV video, shared by @commentsbybravo on Instagram, Katie revealed her reaction to the mid-season trailer.
“So I watched the mid-season trailer for like the 40th time,” Katie said. “It’s crazy. I used to there and I was like shaken. Because of you, the rest of the season was great.”
In the comments, fans called out Katie for portraying a painful season in a positive light.
“‘How good is the rest of the season?'” wrote @kellymcmom9. “[Katie] seeing your friend go through a traumatic experience is good…? …Amuse? Grieve.”
The 36-year-old clapped back, “@kellymcmom9 if anyone has had a traumatic experience this season, it’s me.”
He then added, “You have to remember the scandalous events. Our season was filmed in the summer. But I can objectively say that it was a good season.
Many fans believed that Katie’s comments were disrespectful, and eased the pain Ariana was feeling after the breakup.
Vanderpump Rules Season 10 airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
