Failed gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake insisted in an interview on Friday that if she were not the governor of Arizona, the US would be Venezuela.
Donald Trump-backed Republicans raised the specter of America’s Venezuela in an interview with far-right student agitator Charlie Kirk.
Lake lost to Democrat Katie Hobbs in November, the election has been certified and Hobbs has taken office. Lake also lost a court case last month challenging the election results and has since appealed.
“There is a boatload of evidence in our favor,” Lake baselessly said in an interview. “We just need judges to wake up and understand what’s going on here, and if we don’t restore honest elections now, our country will become Venezuela. We have Venezuela-style elections, and this is how you destroy a country.
