Kari Lake, who ran unsuccessfully for governor of Arizona last year, says she will not be the Republican vice presidential candidate in 2024 for the most absurd reasons.
“We’re flattered, but unfortunately our legal team said the Constitution does not allow for him to serve as Governor and VP at the same time,” the election-reject Republican campaign tweeted at the weekend.
Former President Donald Trump won the straw poll of the declared GOP and likely 2024 presidential candidate with 62% of the vote.
Lake has been heavy on Trump’s playbook after his election loss, baselessly asserting there was intentional wrongdoing at the polling station. He challenged his defeat in court and failed.
During her campaign, Lake repeatedly lied to Trump that the 2020 election was rigged. She lost to Katie Hobbs (D) by more than 17,000 votes.
