Another woman who allegedly received cash payments from Donald Trump’s campaign in 2016 has spoken out after the former president’s indictment.
Well, actually, Karen McDougal just trolled Trump on social media.
“I’m out and about enjoying the country of the Gods… I hope I don’t miss anything,” he sent.
Although Trump has denied having sexual relations with her, she was paid $150,000 by American Media Inc (AMI), the parent company of the National Enquirer, for the rights to her story to prevent her from going public before the 2016 presidential election.
Prosecutors said Tuesday that Trump did not want McDougal’s story to become public “because he was worried about the effect it might have on his candidacy.”
So Trump, his lawyer Michael Cohen and his longtime friend, former AMI chief executive David Pecker, agreed that Trump would reimburse AMI for the payment.
Pecker later decided not to seek repayment after speaking with the company’s attorney, but tThe US Federal Election Commission ruled in 2021 that the payments to McDougal were illegal campaign contributions and fined the successor company $187,500, according to Reuters.
