Kapaz signs Asumah Abubakar until the end of the season

Kapaz PFC have added Asumah Abubakar to their squad, confirming the Ghanaian-born Portuguese striker will wear the yellow-and-blue shirt until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old arrives from Austria’s Lustenau and brings a career built on steady movement across several European leagues. Kapaz will hope his experience and versatility can give their attack a sharper edge in the months ahead.

Abubakar first broke into senior football on 2 April 2016, when he came off the bench for Willem II in a 3-2 Eredivisie home defeat to FC Twente. He later moved to MVV Maastricht for the 2018-19 campaign, then joined Swiss side SC Kriens, where his scoring form took off. On 28 July 2019, he netted his first professional goal against FC Aarau and finished the season third in the league scoring chart.

He repeated that ranking in his second year and was named the Challenge League’s best player. His path continued through Lugano, Luzern, Grasshoppers, Brisbane Roar and Birkirkara before this latest switch to Azerbaijan. Kapaz now add a forward with proven mobility and a career shaped by persistence.
