Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service insists on e-payment in hospitals | The Guardian Nigeria News

The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has advised the management of all public hospitals to comply with the law that prohibits cash payments and accepting electronic cash transfers.

“Prior to the current national currency swap, the Kaduna State Government has abolished and banned cash payments under the Kaduna State Taxes Codification and Consolidation Act, 2020.

“There is no reason, therefore, for public hospitals to reject electronic cash transfers,” KADIRS Executive Chairman, Dr Ziad Abubakar, said on Saturday in Kaduna.

He was responding to complaints that personnel of some public hospitals were insisting on paying cash for services rendered.

“The currency exchange of the Federal Government has brought many challenges to all sectors of the economy and the country in general.

“There are still long queues in bank halls and at Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) as customers wait to get their new naira notes.

“For this reason, the most popular option for business transactions remains electronic cash transfers, although this comes with its own unique challenges of downtime in the network that delays transactions,” he noted.

Dr. Abubakar also stated that KADIRS will provide more Point of Sale terminals in all public hospitals to facilitate the payment of revenue.
