MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel Beer cornerstone June Mar Fajardo led all players in the first fan return for the 2023 PBA All-Star Game released Wednesday.
Fajardo, the league’s only six-time MVP, topped the list with 37,915 votes.
Barangay Ginebra stars Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar and Jamie Malonzo were also among the top picks.
Thompson, the reigning MVP, was close behind Fajardo with 37,759, while Aguilar and Malonzo followed with 37,322 and 32,988 votes respectively.
Magnolia forward Calvin Abueva is fifth with 32,503.
Completing the top 10 are CJ Perez of San Miguel (31,184), Christian Standhardinger of Ginebra (29,821), James Yap of Rain or Shine (28,117), and LA Tenorio of the Gin Kings (28,027) and Stanley Pringle (27,441).
Voting began on January 25 and will end on February 15.
Taking a page out of the NBA All-Star format, the top two players finishing with the most votes will become team captains and earn the right to form their respective teams through the draft.
This year’s All-Star celebration, the first after a three-year absence due to the pandemic, will be held from March 9 to 12 in Passi City, Iloilo.
Tim Cone of Ginebra and Yeng Guiao of Rain or Shine led the voting for the top two coaches.
