Jofra Archer will make his England comeback in the first ODI against South Africa in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
Archer last played for England in March 2021 but continues to recover from elbow and lower back injuries.
He returned to competitive cricket in the SA20 earlier this month and will now play in the first of three ODIs against the Proteas on Friday, who live on Sky Sports.
Speaking ahead of the first match, England white-ball captain Jos Buttler said it was “fantastic” to be able to call the bowlers so quickly.
“It’s good to have Jofra back, fit and playing cricket again. I say on behalf of everyone that he is exciting to be back on the field,” he said.
“As England captain, to be able to bring him back into your squad and the team is fantastic. He’s just coming back to competitive cricket, this will be his first international game for a long time.
“You would be naive to think that it doesn’t take a little time to get to 100 percent. It’s really good to see him fit, back to play and we know he will get better and better as time goes on. Keep going.”
England continue their preparations for their 50-over World Cup title defense this Autumn with a three-match ODI series in South Africa, starting live on Sky Sports Cricket and Sky Sports Main Event.
