The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Joe Ghartey has expressed his desire and readiness to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 Presidential race to achieve victory for the party.
The former Minister of Railway Development and Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado-Ketan, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that he is bringing in a new and revised human rights policy.
He believes that the underground campaign is said to be in full swing as the party prepares to elect a leader for the 2024 presidential election.
Joe Ghartey said he gained popularity in all the 16 Regions of Ghana with special reference to the Volta and Oti Regions.
The candidate said although he hails from the Western and Central Regions, his popularity in Oti and Volta Regions is extraordinary.
Joe Ghartey said his relationship with the original Volta Region, from which Oti Region was carved, dates back to before his political career, a claim confirmed by the Chief of Gbi-Bla Honoe Division, Torgbui Ayim IV.
Joe Ghartey is a Ghanaian lawyer, academic, and politician.
He was the former Attorney General of Ghana between 2006 and 2009, Deputy Speaker of the Second Parliament from 2013 to 2017 and Minister of Railways and Development from 2017 to 2021.
He is a native of Shama in the Western Region.
