Presidential Candidate New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Hon. Joe Ghartey, has joined former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, in mourning his late wife, Major Rtd. Alberta Adwoa Boatemaa Oquaye.
Hon. Ghartey together with his wife, Efua Ghartey, visited Prof. Oquaye at his home in Accra to correspond with him about the loss of his wife.
During the visit, Hon. Ghartey recalls the various public events where she sat next to the former Speaker and his beloved wife “and she was great company. That kind of woman.”
“During President Kufour’s administration, I sat next to Prof. Oquaye in the Cabinet. When he was Minister of Energy and I was Attorney General and Minister of Justice”, Hon. said Ghartey.
“Prof. Oquaye handed over his staff to me when I succeeded him
in 2013 as the 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament.”
“When Prof Oquaye was Speaker, I was one of the few members of Parliament who would be invited to the Chamber to have lunch with him.”
“My relationship with him extends beyond his family, including his beloved wife.”
“May his gentle soul rest in peace until the day of judgment,” Hon. Joe Ghartey finished.
