I was just as excited as the next fan when I saw the trailer at PlayStation 2022 State Play September (the one about Jin Kazama and Tekken 8) and I briefly remembered Tekken 3 in time.
Nostalgia, however, did not really set in until today, March 5, in the year of our Lord, when the trailer of the bad boy in action popped up on the Twitter feed.
Tekken Legacy 3
Gamers, watch the trailer below and tell me you’re not too excited. I dare you.
Watch: Jin Kazama: Fist Meets Fate
Otherwise, you don’t deserve the fifth best-selling game on PlayStation.
Say, I’ll let you know you’ve officially called it one of the greatest video games of all time.
Of. entire. time.
Along with other miracles such as Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda, Prince of Persia, Final Fantasy, and others.
As a 90s kid (yes I know I’m giving away my age here), there was nothing more fun than coming home from school, grabbing a snack, and playing games. Tekken 3.

Being a gamer kid in the nineties was wild. Video games were not available and gaming was still considered a fringe hobby.
Most kids don’t have access to consoles or PCs powerful enough to run games (ah, back in the day Commander Keen and MS-DOS…)
My cousin is the only kid in the family with a console, but thankfully he lives next door. We will spend hours playing Street Fighter or Need for Speed 2.
And of course, Tekken 3.
A cast worth remembering
I love Jin Kazama, Nina Williams, and Eddy Gordo the most, and I spend hours mastering their moves and perfecting my ensemble.

Remember those wild combinations! What was Namco thinking?
This is the 90s definition of remembering passwords in 2023 with 13 characters including capital letters, numbers, and punctuation.
But I digress.
Julia, Law, and Lei made for a strong supporting case, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t dabble with Gon, Mokujin and Bosconovitch too.
Watch: Bringing old grudges to a new generation
The graphics may look dated by today’s standards.
Trust me, I know, I’m still playing Tekken 3 on PS1 every time…
But pixels and 32-bit arcade graphics aside, it’s still a true classic Tekken has stood the test of time.
Genie, legend
He was introduced as a young boy who wanted revenge on the Ogre and his popularity has continued throughout the franchise.
And yes, Jin is still my favorite character today.

They represent a new era of video game characters, with more complex backstories and motivations, and their legacy continues to resonate with gamers today.
Being a strong and angry teenager added a level of depth unknown to the gaming world at the time.
Even angry teenage Cheryl could understand.
It’s refreshing to see realistic characters with everyday struggles and hardships.
When I look back Tekken 3it’s hard not to feel nostalgic.
Tekken 8 is coming
Tekken 8 has entered a new era and trust me when I say I am all for Jin more mature ushering us in this new era.

Jokes and memories, Tekken 8 promises to bring us state-of-the-art graphics and powerful new competitors.
But please, for the love of all things beautiful and pixelated, let’s remember where it all started and how Tekken morphed into the beloved franchise we know today.
Tekken 3 shaped and all generations and legacy will always have a special place in our hearts.
