There was a time, not too long ago, when it looked like Jill Duggar would be content to follow the path her parents had set for her.
Today, however, the 31-year-old is a woman of her own.
Like her sister, Jinger, Jill has rebelled against her ultra-conservative upbringing in an interesting way.
In some ways, Jill has taken her objection even further, going so far as to cut contact with Jim Bob and Michelle.

Jill doesn’t often talk about the latest controversy surrounding her family, but earlier this week, she subtly hinted that she still disagrees with her parents’ expectations.
First, Jill posted the photo below, where she can be seen hanging some wall art depicting musical notation.
“I sometimes hesitate. … I changed some decorations and finally got this Amazing Grace piece hanging in a new place,” she captioned the post.

The song pictured is “Amazing Grace,” and there’s a Bible, but believe it or not, this photo is scandalous by Duggar standards.
This is because Jill is wearing jeans that clearly violates the infamous Duggar dress code.
Not only that, this week also saw Jill announce her plans to work outside the home, unlike anything else in the world of the Duggars.

Jill emphasized that she is still a licensed midwife and hopes to return to the profession one day.
“Currently I am not practicing, but have been able to keep my license ‘inactive’ in case I want to take it back one day or work in the world of rebirth,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Have you worked in the birth world before?” Jill asked her followers.
“(Or maybe just watch an episode of Call the Midwife? Lots of laughs.)”

Yes, Jill watches secular television too!
The show in question is a BBC period drama that takes an honest and compassionate look at women’s rights issues such as access to abortion.
You can be sure that Jim Bob would disagree!
Of course, this isn’t the first time Jill has rejected her parents’ belief system.

In 2020, she and Derick famously lashed out at Jim Bob for preventing him from taking control of his own life.
“Our control over choosing what jobs we’re allowed to do and even where we’re allowed to live is being taken away from us,” Jill said at the time.
“For the first few years of our marriage, we spent time and money looking for opportunities only to hit a dead end when we would be told, ‘Well, you’re not allowed to do that,'” Derick chimed in.

Obviously, that was a frustrating experience for the young couple.
But today, it seems that Jill and Derick are determined to live on their terms, no matter the cost!
