District Governor candidate All Progressive Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has vowed to make the state prosperous and independent if he is elected governor there.
Presenting a manifesto titled “My Agenda for Greater Jigawa 2023,” during a stakeholder engagement in Dutse on Monday, Mr. Namadi said implementing technology in government is key to development.
“Serving Jigawa as Commissioner of Finance and Deputy Governor in the country where I was born and raised is a great honor. I have seen the revival of our country as one of the leading countries in terms of fiscal reform and infrastructure renewal. In recent years, we have witnessed the growth of the business ecosystem us.
“We plan to make our beloved country a powerhouse with the ease of doing business in Nigeria and a technology center in the northern states. I am proud to be part of the team that has made Jigawa a place where fiscal sustainability, infrastructural renewal, and social and economic opportunities abound very.
“The task before us is to build a stronger and smarter Jigawa that can be used by everyone. It is important to retool and prepare the country to continue the marathon race of making Jigawa a place for all of us,” said Mr. Namadi.
He said the 12-point plan all covers and cuts across key sectors that directly affect the lives and economy of Jigawa State residents, such as agriculture, education, health, employment, information and communication technology, and environmental issues.
“This comprehensive plan provides a vision for sustainable economic growth, modern, efficient, and profitable agriculture, youth empowerment, employment, and productivity, a better education system, an innovative, accessible, and affordable health care system, social security a comprehensive arrangement, as well as an enhanced security system.
“With this, we will build an economy based on knowledge, develop opportunities in terms of empowerment, employment and self-productivity for young people, strengthen the infrastructure renewal program, and create sustainable plans for children, the poor and the poor .parents in our society.


“Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a priority sector to achieve socio-economic development, thereby reclaiming the country’s past glory as a leader in e-governance and using ICT for the development of human capital and creating a digital workforce,” he said. added.
While advocating plans for the agricultural sector, which is the mainstay of the country’s economy, the APC candidate promised to build on the current government’s achievements in the sector.
“I will create an innovative and sustainable agricultural system through strategic investments to improve agricultural production through modernization and upscaling mechanization, invest in irrigation infrastructure, promote food production all year round through the expansion of irrigation facilities, research, development, and strategic partnerships with local partners and international to attract the necessary investment into the sector, thereby reducing poverty, food security, job creation, and increasing the country’s internal revenue.
Mr. Namadi also promised to re-jig the education sector in the country to be more responsive to the demands of modern education and the wishes of citizens, thus improving the quality of Islamic and western education through the recruitment of adequate and timely teachers. , providing schools with the latest teaching tools and equipment, as well as providing regular training for teaching staff.
“In the health sector, I plan, among other things, to improve an innovative, accessible and affordable health care system for all by increasing budget funding for the health sector, higher than the 15 percent benchmark of the Abuja Declaration, and institutionalizing other innovative financing instruments that will inject more funds into the health sector.
“Other important themes in the blueprint include addressing the challenges of climate change through the conservation of forests and other natural resources; human development; rural transformation; community-based security; urban infrastructure; drive investment; social security; and increase the country’s internal revenue.
“Ensure the conservation and sustainable utilization of natural resources through protection, reforestation, and reforestation programs, and enforce compliance with environmental protection protocols.
