Now, more information about what caused the terrible moment. A rep for Renner spoke to people on Tuesday and explain what happened on Sunday. According to the rep, Renner worked to help one of the neighbors around the Lake Tahoe area move snow after a particularly difficult week of winter weather.

Rep says:

“[Renner] was moving snow from the driveway on Sunday so that family members could leave home after spending the New Year together. He also helped clear the snow at his neighbor’s house because everyone there had been without power for 24 hours and there was a huge snowfall. So he helped everyone try to clear the snow so people could get out.

At some point during that clear-out, there was an accident. according to TMZ, there is potential for some type of safety feature failure in Renner’s snowplow. It unexpectedly rolled to his feet as he tried to clear the snow. First responders were called to rescue the star after he suffered serious injuries.

Renner himself also spoke about the incident. While she didn’t share details about what specifically happened, the Modesto-born A-lister took it Instagram to send pictures and messages to fans.

At Attend actor wrote:

“Thank you all for the kind words. I’m too confused to type right now. But I’m sending you all love.”

And as you can see (below), he also posted a selfie from his hospital bed:

In a separate statement released on Monday afternoon, Renner’s rep also thanked the star for all who came to his rescue. The statement thanked first responders who rushed to the scene, as well as two neighboring families who helped Jeremy while waiting for help to arrive:

“Jeremy’s family would like to thank the amazing doctors and nurses who cared for him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, the Washoe County Sheriff, Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families. They are also overwhelmed and appreciate the love and support of the fans

On Tuesday afternoon, the Washoe County Sheriff From Balaam held a press conference about the incident, as well. In it, Balaam explained that Renner had helped the car out of the snow on Sunday morning. After getting the car out of the snow bank, Renner got out of the snowplow to talk to a neighbor’s family.

At that time, Balaam said, “It was observed that [snowplow] has started rolling.” Renner tried to go back to the snowplow to stop it, but couldn’t. It rolled over to him, seriously injured the movie star. Balaam said neighbors at the scene immediately administered first aid and called the police. The sheriff’s office is still investigating, but they don’t suspect foul play. He also doesn’t think Renner has a disability on the show.

“He had some family here. His nephew was with him. They closed the mountain because everyone jumped out. He was just plowing the road for snow skiing. He got out, then the engine stopped. The engine jumped out of gear. Then he did something to try to get in , and he was caught and he ran away.

OMG…

Thankfully, it looks like Renner is doing better now. In surgery, the doctor put a pin in his leg. And although the road to recovery looks like it will be long, the source is optimistic:

“He got some injuries, but he’s fine now. He’s talking and everything, although he needs to recover. They put a pin in his leg.”
