Jeremy Dokuâ??s brace not enough as Manchester City draw with Everton in six-goal thrillerÂ
Belgium forward of Ghanaian descent, Jeremy Doku, delivered a top display with two superb goals on Monday night when Manchester City were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by Everton in the English Premier League.
The winger gave City the lead just before halftime with a sensational strike in the 43rd minute, curling a powerful effort from outside the box into the top corner to cap an impressive first-half performance.
After the recess, Everton came out strongly and found their equaliser in the 68th minute when Thierno Barry capitalised on a defensive lapse to finish from close range.
The momentum swung after that incident in the hosts’ favour moments later, as Jake O’Brien headed home a pinpoint corner from James Garner in the 73rd minute to put Everton ahead.
Barry struck again in the 81st minute to extend Everton’s advantage, as Manchester City struggled to find a way to win what was an important fixture in the title race.
However, Erling Haaland pulled one back in the 83rd minute with a clever finish over Jordan Pickford to keep the contest alive heading into stoppage time.
Deep into added time, Doku produced another moment of brilliance, firing a fierce effort from outside the penalty area into the net to complete his brace and rescue a point for City in a thrilling end to the match.
Despite the hard-fought draw, Manchester City’s aim to clinch the English Premier League title has suffered a major setback.
Even if they win their remaining outstanding match, they will still trail Arsenal by two points, heading into the last three matches of the season.
