Taylor Lewis may not be a name that immediately rings a bell Teenage Mother 2 fan, but as a friend of Jenelle Evans and the mother of Cortland Rogers’ child, she became a semi-regular on the show circa 2014.
Sadly, recent social media posts indicate that Taylor lost her battle with addiction this week and died of an apparent overdose.
Details about the circumstances are scarce, but word of Lewis’ death comes from those who knew him, and unfortunately, there is no reason to doubt the accuracy of the report.
One of the friends who sent Taylor a tribute was Jenelle herself.
And some people weren’t impressed with Evans’ comments about his departed friend.
“Taylor what happened?! We used to be best friends and we’re different because of who we choose to hang out with,” Evans wrote on Facebook.
“I wanted to see you finally grow into a woman from afar but always rooting for you. I don’t know what happened but I’m very saddened to hear this news and I hope you can rest in peace,” said Evans.
“So sorry and sending your family prayers #SweetAngel #RIP,” the former reality star said, adding:
“(I feel bad for not answering him in March 2022, but I think he didn’t do his best)”
Unsurprisingly, many took issue with Jenelle’s need to point out Lewis’ struggles, seemingly to justify her own decision to end her relationship with him.
Jenelle is an addict, and while she continues to drink heavily and consume other substances, she claims it’s been years since she used opiates, which used to be her drug of choice.
So Evans probably felt that he would never be able to spend time with Taylor without being tempted again.
Still, there was no reason to mention her latest interaction with Lewis, or to tell the world that her deceased mother was in a deteriorating state.
On Reddit, commenters were quick to point out the insensitivity and narcissism of Jenelle’s remarks.
“An old friend that Jenelle admittedly ignored died. Jenelle: How can I make this about meeeeeee,” one person wrote.
“Jenelle is disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself. This is the worst,” added another.
“Janelle is horrible,” said a third.
The most common complaint has to do with Jenelle’s strange decision to point out that Taylor “didn’t do her best” last time she crossed paths.
“Why add it?? He was really wondering how he could make this about me,” one person said.
“That’s what I thought too. There is no need to add and like him who is to comment on people who are not doing their best,” said another.
“Ironic coming from someone who is and always will be the worst,” said a third.
Jenelle has yet to respond to criticism of her statement.
In this case, it’s probably for the best – he’s had enough to say on the subject of Taylor.
