Mr. Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner and Chairman, INEC Committee on Information and Electoral Education, said on Wednesday that the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the National Commissioner and senior officials took delivery of the machine on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said officials of the Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian Aviation Handling Company and airport security officials were at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to receive the INEC team.

“To facilitate smooth delivery of machinery, the Commission established four airport hubs in Abuja, Kano, Lagos, and Port Harcourt.

“Within the last four months, several flights have sent BVAS to designated airports for movement to states of the federation ahead of the 2023 elections,” Okoye told journalists.

He said with the arrival of the last consignment in Abuja on Tuesday, INEC has now delivered the required number of BVAS machines to all polling units in the state.

He said the consignment included extra machinery that would come in handy in case of an emergency.

Okoye appreciated the support of all Nigerians in INEC’s determination to deploy technology to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive 2023 general election.
