At Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kano State says it has so far distributed 76 percent of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to voters across the state.
The distribution exercise was conducted in 484 political wards in 44 local government areas of the country.
The INEC spokesperson in Kano, Adam Maulud, told PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday that the distribution exercise has now returned to INEC offices in the 44 local government areas of the state.
Mr. Maulud said that since January 20, INEC distributed 386,726 out of a total of 511,105 PVCs received in the country.
“You have now distributed 386,726 which is 76 percent of what was collected in the ward level distribution on January 20. There are 124,379 that have not been collected which is 24 percent.
“INEC on Monday returned to the distribution of PVCs to INEC local government headquarters for the continuation of distribution of PVCs at the local government level.
“The distribution of PVCs in the 484 political wards in Kano has been completed and the process will continue in the 44 local government INEC offices across the country,” Maulud added.
He said the distribution exercise was also conducted on Saturday and Sunday and would continue till January 29.

Meanwhile, the official said that those who have complained about taking PVC may be included in the category of people with double registration.
He said INEC has canceled over 2 million double registrations across the country.
“Anyone whose PVC is damaged does not complain to INEC because the card is damaged, but then does a new PVC in the continuous voter registration, should consider himself a double voter registrar which is a crime and will not be done. ask for PVCs, Mr. Maulud said .
