INEC commends turnout at mock voter accreditation in Delta | The Guardian Nigeria News

INEC has commended the number of potential voters in Saturday’s mock voter accreditation using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in Delta.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Rev. Monday Udoh-Tom, who oversaw the exercise in several polling units in Asaba said: “’What we are seeing is very encouraging.

“People are happy and say they have seen the reality of one person, one voice.”

He added: “one man, one vote will happen on February 25. What INEC announced has stood. It will be one man, one vote.”

He assured doubters that the voter cards issued in 2011 are still valid for the upcoming general elections.

“Some of the cards have been tested and can be used. The new cards are also used,” he said.

Udoh-Tom advised eligible voters to come out en masse to perform their civic duties on Election Day.

“On election day, don’t sit at home. Go out and vote for whoever is the candidate of your choice.

“I also assured that there will be no problem of network failure during the accreditation.

“We don’t use the network for accreditation or voting. We only use the network to upload and send results,” he emphasized.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who witnessed the exercise in some polling units observed that the BVAS machines were working well, as there were many potential voters.

Potential voters who participated in the exercise praised INEC for the results, saying it was a good initiative.

Mr. Kennedy Asha from Owa Alero in Ika North East Local Government Area said he was accredited within five minutes of attending the mock training.

“I commend INEC for this initiative; it must be sustained,” he said.
