In Apo, electorates eager to vote, no sign of INEC officials

Electorates in most polling units Apo Settlement Area in Abuja has denied the non-arrival of election officials and materials at 9.30 am

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the polling unit is Primary Health Center Polling Unit 129,

At the High School Pharmacy Polling Unit 123, near the chief’s palace, and City Hall Polling Unit 128 among others.

Voters are seen in various polling units awaiting the arrival of officials and materials.

“This is the first time I am going out to vote. I am determined and the delay will not stop me.

“We need change in this country and that change will start with me. So, I came ready to wait and make sure that my vote will be counted,” voter at the health center, Amos Kobe said.

At Apo Secondary School, Pedro Ajayi expressed his disappointment that the election process has not started in all areas of Apo Settlement.

Mr. Ajayi said, “I came here since 7.30am and all I could do was take numbers, there was no sign of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials.

“A lot of people come and go in anger, I hope they can go back and exercise their rights.

Also in the City Hall unit, voters were seen hanging out without any sign of officials.

In Apo Village, INEC officials arrived at about 9.30am and more than 1,000 voters who had taken their numbers lined up to vote.

Ginika Ebere, expressing her excitement at seeing INEC officials, said “Thank God, I will be able to vote today for the first time.

Aaron Abram said, “The voting process was supposed to start at 8.30 and imagine when the officials arrived.

“I didn’t see the process end at 2:30 pm because there are so many people here.

“The only interesting thing is that no time is wasted, Nigerians are ready to vote and ensure the number of votes.”

Most of the shops and malls in the residential area are closed, although some mini-shops are selling bones to customers.
