He said the IMF supports Ghana’s efforts to stabilize the economy and promote an inclusive recovery.
In a Twitter post, he said “Great to meet President @NAkufoAddo at #MSC2023. Great to hear authorities making progress on bringing staff-level agreement to IMF Executive Board. We support Ghana’s efforts to stabilize economy & promote inclusive recovery.”
Earlier, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said Ghana will secure the financial guarantee it wants from the IMF by March 2023.
He said that all that is required for Ghana to do or send to reach an agreement with the fund has been completed, and is optimistic that the process has been completed.
He emphasized that there is an urgent need for other creditors to support the government’s efforts to restructure the country’s external and domestic debt, so that the IMF deal can be concluded as soon as possible.
