• Join the Governor of Oyo for the Commission, Flag Off Projects
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, yesterday, praised Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for being the party that ensured the presidential power moved to the southern part of the state.
Wike and Makinde are part of the G-5 Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who refused to support the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in last Saturday’s poll. Grouse told Atiku that power should shift to the South after President Muhammadu Buhari, a Northerner has been waiting for eight years.
In the end, Atiku from the North lost to Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in last Saturday’s poll.
Speaking at the commissioning of Dr. Omololu Olunloyo Airport Road and Aviation Fuel Tank Depot, Ibadan, Wike said he is happy that Makinde is part of those who ensure that power returns to the South.
Wike, who marked Dr. Omololu Olunloyo Park in Ibadan, said, “Let me on behalf of the delegation thank us for this opportunity to commission this important project. I am not surprised by the performance of Seyi Makinde. He can only be a member of the G-5 standing at his feet. People- people who are scared and have nothing to offer who can’t stand up and be brave and take a decision and say we have to implement this, no matter who is involved.
“Your governor has shown that he has the capacity. He has shown that he is a man you can trust. He has shown that he is a man who will not tolerate complete slavery.
“I am happy that he is one of those who make history by making sure that power moves to the South. I have told people that those who are fighting for change, and those who are fighting for revolution may not benefit directly from that war. But now, we all now know that if the power ends from the South, it will go to the North. If it ends from the North, it will go back to the South.
It doesn’t have to be in the constitution before it can be done. I thank Nigerians for staying strong to see that this issue is happening.
Wike continued, “Seyi did many things. Some people say here that you (Makinde) are humble, your humility is contagious, but you are very dangerous. He is very humble; he does not talk like us, but he is very dangerous.” A man who does not say that when you see him in action, you will say, ‘Is this Seyi.
Be warned that the dualization of the Airport road will be inaugurated in February 2022.
Makinde’s efforts to upgrade Ibadan Airport into an international Airport took a new level as history was made when an aircraft was supported for the first time at the Airport. This is part of the activities in the twin commissioning of aviation fuel dispensing facilities and storage depots and Dr. Omololu Olunloyo Airport Road, as well as the flag-off of the construction of Dr. Omololu Olunloyo Park in Alakia area of Ibadan.
In his speech, Governor Seyi Makinde said the commission was historic, as it was the first time an aircraft would be fueled at Ibadan Airport, adding that with the project, Oyo state would be put on the path of sustainable development.

Responding, the former Governor of Oyo State, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, expressed his happiness at the honor bestowed by Governor Makinde, while also recounting his near-death experience.
Earlier in the goodwill message, the Commissioner of Public Works, Transport and Infrastructure, Prof. Kehinde Sangodoyin said the commissioning of various projects will continue to boost the economy and open up the country to local and foreign investors.
Highlights of the event included the commissioning of a 500,000 liter capacity aviation fuel depot, a 3.2km double carriageway, the dualization of the Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo Airport road, and the construction of the Dr. Park. Victor Omololu Olunloyo.
