According to him, he has heard allegations that some suspects died while in custody at the National Bureau of Investigation (NIB) and instead of releasing the bodies to their respective families, the state buried them in secret.
“I heard a story today that some Ghanaians arrested in connection with Western Togoland have been held in BNI/NIB custody for over a year without any charges being brought against them.
“Some died and the bodies were not released to their families but were buried by the state with pleasure,” Barker-Vormawor made the accusation on his Facebook page on Tuesday, March 21.
He went on to describe the allegations as grave and said that if there is any truth, the President under the regime should not be left free.
“I pray to God, that there will be no allegations of kidnapping and disappearance against the Nana Addo Government.
“But if they do, I swear on my grandfather’s grave that if this man leaves the office, I will make his life a living hell!” he swore.
On Tuesday, the High Court in Accra sentenced five accused persons who were arrested in 2020 and have been charged.
He was a member of the Western Togoland Foundation that attacked the police station in Aveyime, freed prisoners, stole ammunition, blocked the road to the Volta Region and shot police officers.
A court found him guilty on March 17 of violating the Prohibited Organizations Act 1976 (Supreme Military Council Decision/SMCD20).
The first accused, Ebenezer Gblorkpor who was found guilty and convicted on counts one, two, and four was sentenced to five years in prison at hard labor (IHL).
The second accused, Afetorgbor Kpogo, who was found guilty and convicted on the first count only served five years in prison with hard labour.
The third defendant (Joseph Nyamewu), the fourth defendant (Wisdom Kuvor), and the fifth defendant (Israel Bessah Kpexor) who were all found guilty and convicted on counts three and four were also sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour.
