I will come to power in 2025 with my valuable experience to fix a broken Ghana – Mahama
Former President John Dramani Mahama said there is a need to intensify stakeholder efforts and involvement in the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP).
He pointed out that it is sad to see Ghana’s performance on the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index scorecard after many years of NACAP.
“This is not what NACAP was programmed to do. NACAP can do better! And NACAP must do better!” he said while delivering a speech on political party financing at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) auditorium on Wednesday, March 22.
“God willing, in 2025, when I have the opportunity to become the President of Ghana who was previously the President, I will come with valuable experience to repair the broken country.
“I want us to build the Ghana we want together by writing – not footnotes, not pages but – chapters on the history of anti-corruption in our country Ghana. We must also uphold human rights, including freedom of expression and not portray some journalists as terrorists, “said the flag bearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC0).
He added that the agenda to “Build the Ghana We Want Together from 2025,” will involve constitutional, political and governance reforms to restore confidence in democracy and the governance system.
“We plan to take up and complete the constitutional review process that began under President John Evans Atta Mills. The reform will include a review of the controversial article 71.
“I still believe that in this time of crisis, Ghana can be managed with no more than 60 ministers. And to reduce the number of officials and remove the gap in privileges and emoluments.
“Let me state again that I will abolish the payment of ex-gratia to members of the Executive and persuade the hands of other governments to accept it. Let those who oppose the abolition of state exgratia clearly instead of moving on the contours that do not exist in a failed attempt to undermine important promises this.
