‘I’d Put My Body In a Fire for Dani Alves’ – Ex-wife Defends Jailed Barcelona Legend Amid Sexual Assault Allegations | Football/Soccer

The Brazil international is being held in a Catalan prison without bail following his arrest in January.

Dinorah Santana, ex-wife and agent of Dani Alves, has defended the Barcelona legend after seeing him accused of rape and sent to prison.

Santana is the mother of Alves’ two children and was married to him for 10 years.

He said the 39-year-old Brazilian would never be able to “demean a woman” and said he would put his whole body “on fire” to defend the honor of the former Barca and Juventus player.

However, Alves is currently being held in a Catalan prison following allegations of sexual assault in a Barcelona nightclub.

Santana told Sport of Alves: “He punished Dani without trial. Dani will never be able to humiliate a woman. I have been married for 10 years and I have been for 22 years.

Asked if he would put his hands in the fire for Alves, Santana added: “No. My whole body will be put in for him.

“In 20 years he has never spoken to me in a higher tone. Sometimes you argue, but he has never treated me badly. He treats the women around me the same. Me, my daughter, my little daughter, my daughter too.

“Dani always has the belief that women should be treated like queens. He gets support from his father, because he respects his mother. Most people are like that.”

Alves was temporarily jailed without bail on January 20, after handing himself in to police following charges brought against him in late December 2022.
