Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) apparently made a spectacle of herself again at the DPRD meeting – this time at a classified briefing on suspected Chinese spy balloons.
“I’m tearing it apart!” Greene gleefully boasted to The Hill when asked about his behavior during Thursday’s briefing.
One unidentified lawmaker at the meeting described her behavior as “irrational,” according to the outlet.
“When he asked, he was yelling, saying ‘bullshit,’ and, you know, ‘I don’t believe you.’ Just screaming and yelling — irrational in my estimation,” the lawmaker told The Hill.
Greene reportedly complained that he had to wait his turn to speak, then dismissed military officials who appeared at the briefing.
“I had to wait in line the whole time. I was second to last, and I chewed them up like an American,” Greene told The Hill.
Greene said he incensed the balloon was not blown out of the sky earlier. It floated in the US for four days before being shot down last Saturday off the Atlantic coast in an effort to avoid any risk to civilians.
Greene insisted last week that former President Donald Trump would not allow the balloon to cross the US border – but the Defense Department later announced that three Chinese surveillance balloons had “transited” the country during Trump’s presidency.
The latest outburst erupted just two days after Greene screamed “lies!” when President Joe Biden excoriated Republicans in his State of the Union address for creating a strategy to destroy Social Security. In fact, some Republicans — apparently unknown to Greene — did just that.
Her behavior prompted House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to “shush” Greene on national TV as she sat behind Biden as the president gave his speech.
Longtime Democratic consultant James Carville later slammed the hecklers, including Greene, for their actions during Biden’s speech.
“The level of white trash in the Republican Party is staggering,” Ari Melber said on MSNBC on Thursday.
