I think we made a lot of usual mistakes â?? Medeama coach Ibrahim Tanko reflects on costly defeat
Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has admitted that uncharacteristic errors from his players contributed to their 2-1 loss to Berekum Chelsea, a result that has tightened the Ghana Premier League title race.
Speaking after the match at the Golden City Park, Tanko pointed to repeated mistakes that proved costly for the league leaders.
“I think we made a lot of usual mistakes,” Tanko said.
He also noted that the poor condition of the pitch did not help his side’s cause, but refused to use it as an excuse, instead congratulating Berekum Chelsea for the win.
Despite the setback, Tanko urged his players not to panic. “We just lost this game; we don’t have to panic, but we just have to go and watch the video and correct our mistakes,” he added.
Medeama remain top of the table with 56 points, but their lead has been cut to just two points with three matches remaining. Any further slip-ups could prove fatal in the title race.
