Huddersfield have sacked head coach Mark Fotheringham after just 21 games in charge of the club, leaving them on the hunt for a fourth manager in seven months.

Fotheringham lost his job at the end of a five game winless run in the Championship, with the last game drawing 2-2 at Blackpool on Tuesday – which the Terriers were only denied victory by Josh Bowler’s last minute equaliser.

Overall, Huddersfield took 21 points from 20 league games at the top, a point above the Championship relegation zone.

Kenny Miller has also left the John Smith’s Stadium which means assistant coach Narcis Pelach, who was previously manager of Girona’s U23s, will be in charge of the relegation battle with Wigan on Saturday.

Fotheringham’s sacking is the third managerial departure at Huddersfield since last July, when Carlos Corberan resigned following disagreements with the club’s board. His replacement, Danny Schofield, then managed just nine games – and one win – before being sacked.
