HRF Awards $325,000 Bitcoin Grants – Bitcoin Magazine

The Human Rights Foundation’s Bitcoin Development Fund has announced a new set of grants going out around the globe to support builders in the industry.

According to an announcement posted to Bitcoin Magazine, “Focus areas include Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and South Asia.” These grants include:

• $50,000 for Gleb Naumenko for the work on Bitcoin Core, the release of Coinpool, the concept to scale Bitcoin and to conduct research on SIGHASH_ANYPREVOUT and Eltoo as a potential Bitcoin scaling solution.
• $50,000 to Furzy for his work on Bitcoin Core, especially for stability, security and performance features.
• $25,000 for Bitcoin4India for support for community initiatives and local meetings, education, translation projects and support of local artisans.
• $25,000 for Bitcoin Mountain to build a circular economy, meetings, conferences and training in Cameroon.
• $25,000 for the We Are All Satoshi project, “an African-based organization that aims to identify young women and men of all religious backgrounds who are interested in technology and help direct their contribution to Bitcoin,” which will help them develop a curriculum, organize. support network and sponsor projects.
• $25,000 to the association of Tor relay operators to support network reliability and performance, as recommended by the Tor Project. Its purpose is to help support network reliability and performance, especially in light of recent DOS attacks, as a key privacy tool used by people around the world.
• $25,000 for Bitcoin Magazine Ukraine to support regular Bitcoin meetups in Kyiv, which continues even in the middle of the war – funding will also support the release of the first print edition of Bitcoin Magazine Ukraine.
• $25,000 for dust for his work on Lightning Splicing, which allows nodes to resize Lightning channels, allowing Bitcoin wallets to have “one balance” where wallets can pay for destinations on legacy chains as well as make payments in Lightning. Lightning Splicing has the potential to dramatically improve the user experience on the Lightning Network.
• $25,000 to Raseef 22, an independent pan-Arab media outlet covering 22 Arab countries. Published from Beirut since 2013, 40 journalists work from 4 corners of the world to bring relevant coverage of life in the Arabic world, with a focus on freedom, democracy and human rights, including the social impact of bitcoin.
• $25,000 for New Belarus, a digital democracy platform that aims to provide a framework to enable direct and representative democracy and prepare a new generation of politicians and citizens who understand democracy, including a program that will focus on building a bitcoin-based financial infrastructure.
• $15,000 in travel grants to support students, activists, and developers at the African Bitcoin Conference, with accommodation and travel flights, allowing men and women from all over Africa to attend and build adoption on the continent.
• And $10,000 to support bitcoin++, a Mexico City-based Bitcoin developer conference that has a specific privacy focus, with lectures and workshops.
