The Police Command in Plateau has foiled an attempt by gunmen to abduct Mr. Yakubu Sanda, the Speaker, Plateau House of Assembly.

DSP Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, disclosed in a statement on Friday in Jos.

According to Alabo, the incident happened on Friday night at the speaker’s place in the Federal Low, Jos South Local Government Area of ​​the state.

The PPRO said it took the courage of the security personnel guarding the speaker’s house and the timely intervention of other policemen from the Chain Division to foil the attempt.

“On Friday, at about 11:20 when the Speaker arrived at his home at Federal Low-cost in Jos-south, three unidentified gunmen operating in a gray Jeep CRV, followed him to his home and attempted to enter to his house. kidnapped him.

“But the mission was not made possible by the police officers who had the courage to guard, and the timely response of the Divisional Police Division (DPO) Rantya Division, SP Ayuba Iliya and his men, who joined the guard and chased away the force. bad

“However, the command is making efforts to trace the fleeing suspect and arrest him,” he said.

Alabo said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bartholomew Onyeka, who vowed to stem the tide of criminal activities in the state, thanked members of the public for giving timely information about security breaches in various communities to the Police for prompt action.

He urged residents to do their legitimate business as the Police has done a lot to ensure the safety of all.
