How Gerard Butler ‘Almost Killed’ Hilary Swank Filming P.S. I Love You

What Gerard Butler just admit to trying to kill?!

No, no, we can all take a deep breath. But he said “almost killed” Hilary Swank when filming the famous tear-jerker PS I Love You. Um… what?

In Tuesday’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, The rom-com hunk sat down and admitted Hilary was injured while filming a scene where he danced “like an idiot” in boxer shorts and suspenders. The actor’s character, Gerry Kennedy, was allegedly hit in the face with a suspender clip while undressing. That didn’t go to plan, though, as the metal fastener ended up slashing his co-star’s head! Alas!

On a good note, Hilary obviously didn’t die – but she did have to be taken to the hospital:

“That [got] stuck, it’s a release[d] and [flew] over my head. I cut her open. You can even see the teeth [of the clip]. He needs to be taken to the hospital.”

Gerard revealed that the metal bits were “so dangerous” that even the film crew had “plastic fronts to protect themselves” from flying metal. Can’t they use something other than metal?!

After Hilary was cut, the studio was “in three seconds” according to the 53-year-old who was still crying in his boxers. And like the rest of us, he’s embarrassed about it:

“I injured Hilary Swank. I almost took out her eye, and I just made a fool of her for two days.
