The House Ethics Committee announced Wednesday that it is launching an investigation into a stunning range of allegations against Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.).
The panel is creating a subcommittee to look into allegations that Mills may have failed to properly disclose required information on statements filed with the House; violated campaign finance laws during his 2022 and 2024 campaigns; improperly accepted gifts, including privately sponsored official travel; received special favors because of his position in Congress; engaged in sexual misconduct or dating violence; and misused congressional resources or status.
Reps. Michael Guest (R-Miss.) and Mark DeSaulnier (D-Calif.), the chairman and ranking member of the ethics panel, respectively, said they will soon announce who will serve on the subcommittee. In a statement, they also emphasized that the creation of the subcommittee “does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred.”
The committee’s announcement comes as Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) is planning to offer a resolution on the House floor on Wednesday night, aimed at censuring Mills for some of these same allegations.
A Mills spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
