‘He is very respectful and avoids conflict’ â?? Mother remembers slain Berekum Chelsea midfielder Dominic Frimpong

The mother of Dominic Frimpong, the 20-year-old Berekum Chelsea midfielder killed in an armed robbery attack on the team bus, has painted a heartbreaking picture of her son as a peace-loving and respectful young man who never sought trouble.

In an emotional account, she described Dominic as her firstborn and the family’s main provider, a role he embraced with humility and dedication.

“He is very respectful and avoids conflict, something anyone can testify to. Although he is grown, he always listens whenever I advise or caution him,” she said.

Frimpong lost his life on Sunday night, April 12, 2026, when armed robbers attacked the Berekum Chelsea team bus on the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso stretch as the players returned from a Ghana Premier League match against FC Samartex in Samreboi.

According to club officials, the attackers blocked the road and opened fire on the bus. Frimpong sustained a gunshot wound to the head and later died at a health facility despite efforts to save him.

His mother, still struggling to come to terms with the loss, said Dominic had been the breadwinner of the household, working tirelessly through his football career to provide for the family and secure a better future.

“He means everything to me. We did almost everything together, including making decisions,” she added.

Frimpong joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC in January and had made 13 league appearances, scoring twice. He was regarded as one of the club’s promising young talents.

For his grieving mother, however, the loss is not about football. It is about a son who was gentle, respectful, and the pillar of her world.
