Has Sunak misread the public mood on the strikes? – politicalbetting.com

We have only had one vote poll published since the Christmas break and the Tories are ahead.

So far, it does not appear that Sunak’s government has gained additional support from voters due to its hard-line approach to the current industrial situation that generally affects key public services.

Normally, you would hope to see an increase in governments taking this kind of stance and that may be the case.

The Savanta poll above for Indy highlights the big problem for ministers as many people support the move. After all, if inflation is running at 10% and workers are offered half, then it’s easier to sympathize.

Making the case that unions are being greedy doesn’t work in these situations when they can offer pay cuts. Sunak can be described as an irrational person.

This could be very dangerous territory for the first British PM to marry a billionaire.
