Hallmark’s ‘Sweeter Than Chocolate’ Is ‘Diverse’

Chocolate kisses for all! Then Jeannotte revealed why he was drawn for Hallmark’s Sweeter Than Chocolate role – and how to flip the usual format of the network.

“When I first read the script, I was immediately struck by how different the story is from some of these rom-coms,” Jeannotte, 41, said exclusively. Sweeter Than Chocolatewhich premiered on February 4, follows Dean as he investigates the fabled chocolate shop – and chocolatier Lucy Sweets (Eloise Mumford) – to produce magical cupid treats that bring true love to consumers.

Lucy and Dean can be happy forever, however, only one of the fairy tales played out on the screen in the Valentine’s Day-themed movie.

Jeannotte said us on Tuesday it was evident when filming how Hallmark Media has evolved in the new year to represent all kinds of happy endings.

“It’s more about another love story [that] we ask to see in this, the film, it is diverse,” the Bold type teasing alum. “[We’re] see gay love stories, love stories with people who meet later in life, old people who fall in love after having a marriage or losing a partner. And it just goes to show there [are as] different ways to love because there are different people in the world.”

ex rule star also gushed over Hallmark’s dedication to portraying all walks of life on the screen. “I think it’s really important to network [and] writers tell these stories. I’m very happy that Hallmark is doing it now, “he said. “It brings me a lot, joy and, I just, I feel happy to be among people who tell these different stories.”

Jeannotte first joined the Hallmark family in 2015 with the role Good witch. He has since starred in several films for the company, including 2022 The Royal Nanny. When asked to pick his “favorite” network project, the actor had a hard time choosing.

“I’ve been pretty lucky with Hallmark. [I’ve had] great movie with great people. And also, I’m really lucky to be able to shoot in some really beautiful locations,” he said us. “Honestly, and I’m not just saying this because this is the movie I’m promoting right now, [but] this movie is my favorite of the Hallmark movies.

At Paris, Wine & Romance actor revealed Sweeter Than Chocolate has a “beautiful script” and “beautiful energy” throughout. “It’s really well developed and beautiful,” he said. “That’s my favorite.”

Sweeter Than Chocolate premieres on Hallmark Channel on Friday, February 4, at 8 pm ET.
